What prompted the whopper of all Flip Flops? (Sodom & G. resurrection)
by Open mind inin pre-studying my watchtower for this sunday, (with mary's assistance on v's thread of course), i was reminded of something i've wondered about re: the whole "will the residents of sodom & gomorrah be resurrected?
" question.. to my knowledge, this one holds the watchtower record for most number of flip-flops.
please correct me if i'm wrong.

Fire Up the street
by Undecided inthis morning about 5 am a fire truck went up the street, i could smell the smoke.
they got it put out but the inside of the house was burned out.
my wife's house burned down about 50 years ago close to there because the roads were covered with ice and the fire trucks couldn't get up the hill.

Yikes. That's scary, scarier to see than I had imagined, the first time I saw a neighbors house fully engulfed, wow. I was 16 or so and a jw, my mom said, "quit saying 'jesus'". I couldn't help it.
Hey last year, a 2 story home a few miles from us burnt to a shell, only slump block left. The owner had just refinished the woodfloors and the house was full of fumes from the finish, a bad wire sparked and within 2-3 minutes there wasn't a chance. The fire station is literally right around the corner, perhaps 3 minutes away and they were too late! No one was home, thankfully.

I wonder, Whatever would Watchtower do without this sort of person, woman-hating, fanatical, he condemns a perfectly worded post by a respected member with his poor grammar and spelling.

What does Jehovah do?
by LouBelle inokay this is for current jws' - if there are lurkers, or for those that may not neccessarily believe in jehovah but believe that him and jesus are 2 different spirits.. we have jesus - creating the world and everything in it, then he's on earth healing, preaching.
he dies, gets resurrected and goes back to heaven.
throws satan and his demons outta heaven in 1914, rules the kingdom, checking sure that everything is going smoothly........ what is jehovah doing?

I just need a place to let out
by tsunami_rid3r inas always i feel this community will feel me the most.
most often i feel i'm caught between so much stress, particularly trying to juggle work, class work, lab work, friendship, and love.
and in the midst of all of this, i get so distracted easily such as by being here.

I'm curious- why 'god'?
by rimfiredancing ini know how i got sucked into the b0rg- i was a very spiritual, very young and very emotionally damaged 19 year old (raised in a violent on all levels home, the usual stuff) who was having- and had always had- a lot of 'supernatural' experiences that had caused my mother to declare me 'evil' (and try to get me exorcised on the odd occasion).
i'd become confused and was trying to work out if these things were, in fact, a sign of my rejection from 'god'.
if i'd known then what i know now about the christian god, i'd have told the jw's to stick it.

Yeah, I literally felt a pang of Wow when I read these scriptures, I'd never realized it before: it says to inculcate your kids, and kids obey parents, everybody 'respect' each other and submit to dad and work for the cause, but there's no mention of family relationship there. Just those stuffy single apostles who advised against marriage and preached excommunication--but I've got these 5 shipwrecks on my resume. . .
